Discrete regularisation of localised kinetic terms

We investigate the behaviour of 5d models with general brane kinetic terms by discretis-ing the extra dimension. We show that in the continuum limit the Kaluza-Klein masses and wave functions are in general nonanalytic in the coefficients of brane terms.

Higher derivatives and brane-localised kinetic terms in gauge theories on orbifolds

We perform a detailed analysis of one-loop corrections to the self-energy of the (off-shell) gauge bosons in six-dimensional N = 1 supersymmetric gauge theories on orbifolds. After discussing the Abelian case in the standard Feynman diagram approach, we extend the analysis to the non-Abelian case by employing the method of an orbifoldcompatible one-loop effective action for a classical backgrou...

BMJ Case Rep Published online: [please include Day Month Year] doi:10.1136/ bcr-2015-209462 DESCRIPTION Localised lichen myxedematosus (LM) is a chronic idiopathic papular mucinosis that can be divided into five subtypes: a discrete papular (DPLM) form, acral persistent papular mucinosis (APPM), papular mucinosis of infancy, a nodular form and selfh...

Kinetic terms in warped compactifications

We develop formalism for computing the kinetic terms of 4d fields in string compactifications, particularly with warping. With the help of the Hamiltonian approach, we identify a gauge dependent inner product on the compactification manifold which depends on the warp factor. It is shown that kinetic terms are associated to the minimum value of the inner product over each gauge orbit. We work ou...

Discrete approximation and regularisation for the inverse conductivity problem

We study the inverse conductivity problem with discontinuous conductivities. We consider, simultaneously, a regularisation and a discretisation for a variational approach to solve the inverse problem. We show that, under suitable choices of the regularisation and discretisation parameters, the discrete regularised solutions converge, as the noise level on the measurements goes to zero, to the l...
